Latest Update! :)

The pressure is already on Australia's gymnasts to continue their sustained improvement in world competition with national AOC boss John Coates earmarking the sport capable of producing its first Olympic medals in London.

Versatile Perth teenager Lauren Mitchell has pushed expectation the most after a superb display at last year's world titles in London - two silver medals plus a narrow fourth in the testing all-around competition.

"For us the world championships is our Olympic qualifier so it's our main competition and we are kind of treating the Commonwealth Games as a preparation comp," said Mitchell, who is returning from a series of injuries.
"As I haven't competed all year that's how I'm viewing Delhi - as a lead-up competition.
"I'm trying to put a positive spin on them being very close together."

The 19-year-old Perth gymnast has enjoyed success on the world stage to mark her as a genuine gold medal contender in four events - the floor, beam, all-around and team's competition. But Mitchell must overcome a litany of injury dramas with hand, ankle and groin problems significantly affecting her preparations this year.
